A donor deciding whether to give to an NGO usually spends less than a minute on the website. In that time they are asking one question: is this organisation real, and will my money be used properly? If the site cannot answer that quickly, they close it and move on.
Here is what we suggest for any trust, foundation or society in Delhi that wants a website donors and volunteers can trust. It follows the same approach as our NGO website design work.
Say what you do in the first screen
Skip the long welcome. Write one plain sentence: who you help, where, and how. For example, “We run evening study centres for children in North Delhi.” Then show one strong, real photo from your own work and a single donate or volunteer button.
Show your registration and your people
Trust comes from details. Add your registration details, 12A and 80G information if you have it, your address and a phone number that gets answered. A short page about your trustees and team, with real names and photos, does more for credibility than any tagline.
Make donating simple
Every extra field loses a few donors. Offer a few clear amounts, a short form and the payment options your donors use. Say what a donation makes possible, in specific terms, and send a confirmation. Test the whole donation journey on a phone before launch.
Give each programme its own page
If you work on education, health and relief, do not put it all on one page. Each programme deserves its own page with the problem, what you do, where you work and the results so far. It is easier to read, and CSR teams checking whether you fit their focus area can find it in seconds.
Publish reports and real photos
Annual reports, audited statements and event photos show that the work is real. Keep them easy to find, in a simple list with the year. Use photos from your own events, and only publish photos of people, especially children, when you have their permission.
Give volunteers and partners a clear route
A short volunteer form, a contact page for CSR and corporate partners, and a phone or WhatsApp number make it easy for the right people to reach you. Reply quickly. A slow reply loses more supporters than an average website does.
Do the basics for search
Most people will not type your name. They will search things like “NGO in Delhi for children’s education”. Use those plain words in your page titles and headings, keep your address and phone the same everywhere, and set up your Google Business Profile. Our SEO services and digital marketing pages explain how this works for a small organisation.
What does it cost?
The price depends on the number of pages, whether you need online donation, whether the site is in Hindi and English, and how many reports and galleries you want to publish. Our guide to website design cost in Delhi explains each factor.
